Clarification of Statement
Clarification of Statement:
To support the recent press release regarding the Future of Military and Flying Machines, the show organising committee would like to make the following clarification:In November the National Military Vehicle Trust (MVT) Council of Management (CoM) sent the Essex Area MVT a letter stating that they, the MVT, could not support any future Military and Flying Machines Show, as such, the Essex Area MVT would have to cancel the event or go it alone. The MVT CoM gave their reasons and the Essex Area MVT responded. The reasons given were to do with financial issues within the MVT, in addition to a perceived risk by the MVT CoM to the MVT's charitable status, which of course the CoM wished to protect.
One of the MVT's CoM's suggestions in the letter was for the Essex Area to form an organisation to run and manage the show. The Essex Area MVT took up that suggestion, with the only other alternative being to abandon the show, after much research, the show organising committee discovered the only practical way forward was to set up a new charity, which in turn could run the show. The national MVT suggested a way forward regarding the show funds which was duly implemented with their full support and agreement.
The Essex MVT is still operating with monthly meetings, supporting events and members and intends to continue to do so. The Essex HMVA from now on, are managing and presenting the Military and Flying Machines show.
This transfer of the show to Essex HMVA from Essex MVT was made at the request of the National MVT with the full knowledge, acceptance and support of the National MVT CoM who have been involved at every stage. Whilst the show is now managed and run by an independent charity it is the intention to continue to work with the National MVT.
